Support Flood Relief of Devastated Communities in Northern New York

The Ausable River rose to a record-breaking 18.4 feet early the morning of August 29th, overwhelming the small mountain hamlets of Upper Jay, Jay, and Au Sable Forks. Experts have labeled it a “500-year flood”.

The high waters formed a powerful torrent that ripped apart our roads, redirected our streams, swept away homes, livestock, possessions, memories and livelihoods. Many of our neighbors have lost everything; some have not had essential utilities, walls in their homes, or the ability to prepare food for weeks as they scramble to repair, rebuild, and struggle to find the funds to cover all they have lost. Our cultural and business institutions were badly hit or washed downriver – some will not recover. The very fiber of our community is threatened.

Much remains to be done and winter in the Adirondacks is only a month or two away.

Our residents need your immediate help.

An unrestricted, tax-deductible donation is the most powerful tool you can give our community to help us repair, rebuild, and heal.
